Recovery is an ongoing journey even after treatment. We know the importance of taking your recovery one step at a time. The outpatient treatment center at Wavelengths in Sonoma County (“Wavelengths – Sonoma”) can be an effective environment for many individuals striving to overcome drug and alcohol addiction. The Sonoma County Rehab Center is centrally located in beautiful downtown Petaluma, California, in the historical Great Petaluma Mill building.
Wavelengths’ Outpatient Rehab in Sonoma County
Wavelengths – Sonoma is an intensive outpatient center, certified by the California Department of Health Care Services and nationally accredited by the Joint Commission. Wavelengths — Sonoma is staffed with a licensed therapist and certified counselors. Participants are provided with an individualized care plan, offering both individual and group therapy, skill-building tools, and access to a safe and supportive network.
The Outpatient Treatment Program
Wavelengths Sonoma program adheres to a holistic approach, where clients will have the opportunity to feed the mind, body, and soul. The program includes, but is not limited to, nutrition classes, fitness training, meditation, experiential outings, and independent living skills.
This therapeutic environment allows our participants to continue their day-to-day responsibilities with the ongoing support of our professional staff. In outpatient care, individuals learn recovery and coping skills, helping them maintain their sobriety and safely integrate into the community.
Our treatment plans are specifically designed to help those in recovery learn to develop a lifestyle independent of substances and/or addictive behaviors. This program provides an opportunity for our participants to be in a safe and structured environment by building a strong foundation.
Outpatient Rehab vs Inpatient Rehab
Inpatient rehab and detoxification programs are better suited for people who need close 24/7 supervision during their earlier days in recovery, going through withdrawals in the detox phase. Drugs abuse with substances like heroin and other opioids often merit this higher level of care.
Outpatient rehab is a great option for those with milder substance abuse issues and lesser chemical dependencies. It is ideal for those who already have a decently strong motivation to stop using and require the schedule flexibility to maintain their responsibilities of everyday life.
Outpatient rehab programs offer drug treatment and alcohol treatment in varying levels of care that can be customized to a client’s needs. This allows the client to be able to maintain their work schedule or school schedule while still getting the drug counseling and therapeutic services from a licensed therapist to build a strong foundation for recovery.
Different levels of outpatient treatment include:
- Partial Hospitalization (PHP), sometimes referred to as day programs, where the client may come 5 to 7 days a week, for multiple hours each day to our treatment facilities. It is the first step down from inpatient treatment, but the client still may go home (or sober living housing) at the end of the day.
- Intensive Outpatient (IOP), a step down from PHP, is similar to PHP but with less time commitment. A patient may do 3 or 4 days a week for a few hours a day. It is a great option for those who need to meet work obligations and still take their recovery seriously.
- Outpatient (OP) is another step down from intensive outpatient treatment. A client may come to our addiction center for just 1 or 2 days a week for a few hours a day and are recommended to attend support groups like 12-step meetings as often as they can.
