The Value of AA and NA Meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous is an international organization that has helped thousands, perhaps millions, of people across the world in their journey through recovery. Their community-based support has been helping people since the 1930s, providing resources for those dealing with alcoholism.

In the 1950s, Jimmy Kinnon and several other people helped established Narcotics Anonymous Basic Text, adapting the 12-step model to those struggling with narcotic addictions.

COVID-19 Complications

The guidelines of COVID-19 have forced many meetings to be held online only or to cancel in-person interactions. Though quarantine restrictions have been lifted, many people may continue to be hesitant to join in-person meetings.

We support everyone’s decision to continue with online meetings, though we do find particular value in in-person meetings due to the true nature of face-to-face communication.

In-person meetings may actually provide a better sense of camaraderie and privacy. While still great in themselves, online meetings may feel somewhat impersonal and isolating at times.

We do like our in-person meetings, but please do your part to stay safe and follow all safety measures your fellow anon members would like you to follow.
